This seminar focused on the optimal control methods used on a daily basis in three domains : finance, structures and medical Imaging

Context

Optimal control is a building block of mission analysis via trajectory optimisation : launcher, transfer or rendezvous ; low or high thrust ; two, three or four body problem ; local or global solution, etc…

Research is very active with preferred classes of methods depending on the applications and the epochs.

However optimal control is not only used in space trajectory design but in nearly every field of engineering. In the attempt to open the COMET to non-space domains, it looked very attractive to focus on other applications ; the objective being to understand how some concepts and ideas could be reused in the space domain.

Agenda

  • 10:00 - 10:40 : Recent advances in structural and multidisciplinary optimization
  • 10:40 - 11:20 : Stochastic optimal control in Finance: Bermudan swaption case
  • 11:20 - 12:00 : Geometric and numerical methods for the saturation problem in Magnetic Resonance Imaging
